Apostilles for Canadian Documents Used in Mexico

Since 2024, Canadian documents are apostilled in Canada and accepted in Mexico without going through a consulate. Here you can see which authority handles each one.

Canada joined the Hague Convention on January 11, 2024

A Canadian document used to be authenticated in Canada and then legalized at a Mexican consulate. That no longer applies: it now gets a single apostille. Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Quebec apostille their own documents; Global Affairs Canada apostilles federal documents, such as the RCMP certificate, and those from the other provinces and territories.
